A huge leak has reportedly exposed around 192GB of Grand Theft Auto 5 data, including cancelled downloadable content, unused vehicles, mission material and early development assets linked to Grand Theft Auto 6.

The volume is considerably larger than the roughly 4GB to 5GB of GTA 5 source code that appeared online in 2023. Content creator TJGM identified the new material as being close to 192GB.

A lost Liberty City expansion

Among the discoveries is a large Liberty City map apparently prepared for GTA 5 downloadable content. Liberty City is the series’ fictional version of New York City and has appeared in several entries.

The map has prompted speculation that the cancelled expansion may have influenced, or even been intended for, GTA 6. However, there is currently no proof that the Liberty City material was transferred into the newer game. The discovery is another reminder of how much planned content can remain hidden inside a major game’s development history. For more gaming and industry coverage, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.

Agent Trevor’s abandoned spy adventure

Details of the long-rumoured “Agent Trevor” expansion have also surfaced. The concept would have placed Trevor, one of GTA 5’s three protagonists, in a secret-agent story that sent him into a chaotic parody of a James Bond-style adventure.

Trevor voice actor Steven Ogg previously speculated that Rockstar cancelled the project to concentrate on the highly profitable GTA Online. Newly surfaced mission descriptions provide a clearer picture of the proposed campaign.

  • Torture sequences
  • Bomb-disposal missions
  • A jetpack escape
  • Casino sequences featuring roulette
  • An attempted assassination that Trevor could prevent

Leaked interior environments appear to be connected to some of these missions. The casino material in particular would have given Trevor a distinctly over-the-top secret-agent setting.

Unusual vehicles and unused dialogue

The leak also contains a collection of cut vehicles. Alongside more conventional construction equipment, boats, golf carts and police vehicles, the material includes a dog fitted with a wheel and a strange space rover-like machine.

The dog-related asset has led to speculation that players might once have been able to ride dogs, although the discovery does not confirm that interpretation. Other cut vehicles have been catalogued by people examining the files.

Unused audio material adds further detail to abandoned ideas. It includes funny dialogue, cut mission conversations and dialogue from an earlier version of ending A. In that discarded version, Trevor would have crashed into a tank of liquid nitrogen and been frozen.

Early Grand Theft Auto 6 development material

The files are not limited to GTA 5. Users have also identified early GTA 6 maps and 3D building models. Some accounts have suggested that the assets date from 2023, but other analysis indicates they are more likely to come from a much earlier prototype, potentially dating back to 2015.

That distinction matters: prototype assets can change substantially before release and should not be treated as evidence of the final game’s map, missions or features. People are continuing to sort through the material, with communities on Reddit and X compiling summaries of the discoveries.

For readers interested in the hardware side of gaming, the scale of the leak also highlights the complexity of modern development compared with classic arcade software. What is confirmed about GTA 6?

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on 19 November, 13 years after GTA 5 arrived in 2013. The source material states that the game will release digitally on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

The game is set to revisit a Miami-inspired setting, include a nudist camp and receive a special PlayStation 5 controller. The controller has already attracted scalper attention. None of the leaked prototype material changes those publicly stated details, and early assets should be treated cautiously until Rockstar confirms more information.
