Isaac Rouse becomes James Bond in SilverFin audio drama
A new James Bond actor has entered the franchise through Young Bond: SilverFin, a 16-part audio adaptation released on 29 October 2026. Isaac Rouse leads the production as a teenage James Bond.
The new audio drama arrives while the next Bond film is being developed. The untitled film, commonly referred to as Bond 26, will be directed by Denis Villeneuve, with Daniel Craig’s successor still to be chosen.

Bond’s early years return to audio
Ian Fleming published 10 Bond novels and short-story collections before Dr. No brought the character to cinemas. Following Fleming’s death in 1964, writers including John Gardner, Raymond Benson and Sebastian Faulks continued the literary series.
Charlie Higson began the Young Bond era in 2005 with SilverFin. The novel follows Bond during his time at Eton College, where he uncovers a frightening discovery with the potential to unleash a new form of warfare.
The audio adaptation moves the action to the Scottish Highlands, where a dangerous secret lies beneath Loch Silverfin. Its two volumes contain 16 half-hour episodes built around action, intrigue and the formative experiences of the future secret agent.
Rouse, whose screen credits include The Crown and Get Even, stars alongside Charlotte McBurney as Wilder Lawless, Miriam Margolyes, Tim McInnerny, Miranda Raison, Paterson Joseph and William Hope. Higson also appears in the production.

There is plenty of source material for further Young Bond stories. Higson wrote five novels and a short story, while Steve Cole added four more books to the series.

Who could play Bond on the big screen?
The 26th Bond film is being written by Stephen Knight, known for Peaky Blinders and Eastern Promises, and directed by Villeneuve, whose credits include Dune and Sicario. Nina Gold is serving as casting director.
Amazon MGM Studios has not confirmed the next 007, although a reported shortlist includes six prominent actors:
- Jack Barton, known for Heartstopper and SAS: Rogue Heroes, is reportedly the surprise favourite.
- Jack Lowden, who plays River Cartwright in Slow Horses.
- Callum Turner, recently seen in Masters of the Air.
- Jacob Elordi, whose work includes The Kissing Booth, Euphoria, Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein and Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars.
- Paul Mescal, an Academy Award nominee for Aftersun who also appeared in Gladiator II and Hamnet.
- Harris Dickinson, known for Triangle of Sadness, The Iron Claw and Babygirl.

Two new versions of 007
Rouse is not the only actor recently associated with a younger James Bond. 007 First Light follows the spy during his training and early missions as he works towards becoming a fully qualified MI6 agent, with Patrick Gibson playing Bond.
The next big-screen casting announcement is expected soon. Until then, Young Bond: SilverFin offers a separate look at the character before he becomes the fully formed secret agent audiences know.
