The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is due to receive a Nintendo Switch 2 patch, with CD Projekt Red confirming that work on the update is continuing.

The news follows several updates for other platforms, leaving Switch 2 players waiting for fixes and visual improvements already introduced elsewhere. For Australian players following the wider gaming hardware landscape, the situation is another reminder that platform-specific updates do not always arrive together.
Switch 2 players missed patch 5.01
On 9 October, CD Projekt Red released patch 5.01 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The update brought performance improvements, bloom changes and additional visual customisation options to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered.

However, Nintendo Switch 2 was not included in that release. Players on the console therefore remained affected by problems addressed on the other systems while the developer prepared a separate update.
CD Projekt Red’s v5.01 patch notes confirmed that a Switch 2 patch was still in development and that more information would be shared soon.
A PS5 hotfix increased the pressure
A further hotfix arrived on 13 October, but this release targeted PlayStation 5. It was a relatively small update focused on stability and providing a better gameplay experience for PS5 users.

The decision to prioritise another platform prompted complaints from Switch 2 players. Frustration was amplified by the increasing number of Switch 2 users playing the game through a duplication exploit affecting cartridge owners.
CD Projekt Red told frustrated Switch 2 players that the update was “on the way” and that more information should arrive “very soon”.
The response reassured players that the platform had not been forgotten, although no release date was supplied. Owners will need to wait for the developer’s next announcement before they know exactly when the patch will be available.
What the Nintendo Switch 2 update should address
The planned patch is expected to include the improvements delivered to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. It should also tackle issues specific to the Switch 2 version, particularly image clarity and sharpness.
- Improvements introduced with patch 5.01
- Fixes for Nintendo Switch 2 image clarity problems
- Changes designed to improve image sharpness

No Switch 2 release date has been confirmed
At this stage, CD Projekt Red has only confirmed that development is underway and that further details are coming soon. The studio has not announced a specific release date for the Nintendo Switch 2 patch.
Until the update arrives, PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players have access to the latest fixes while Switch 2 owners wait for their platform’s equivalent improvements. When released, the patch should bring the remastered experience closer to parity across the supported systems.
