The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered has received several fixes shortly after launch, with more updates planned for visual and audio problems. CD Projekt Red is also preparing a solution for the remaster’s controversial bloom effect.

Early hotfixes target PC and console issues

The first update arrived earlier today. It restored DLSS access for the Xbox Play Anywhere edition on PC, adjusted interior lighting so rooms are not excessively dark and made broader lighting changes across the game.

The console versions also received changes intended to bring their presentation closer to the PC release. The update covers PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and the PC Xbox Play Anywhere version.

Update details: The developers listed the DLSS fix, darker-interior adjustments and lighting changes in their announcement. The full post is available via pic.twitter.com/xCNbiStzeM, dated October 1, 2026.

PC hotfix weighs in at roughly 5GB

A second update followed only a few hours later, specifically to address a few of the problems on PC. Hotfix 5.00c is approximately 5GB and addresses several bugs, including a voiceover problem and an error affecting save files.

The PC release is available through Steam, GOG, the Epic Games Store and Xbox Play Anywhere. The developer’s rollout notice can also be viewed through pic.twitter.com/UeV5GuxC5o, posted on October 1, 2026.

Bloom and console sound fixes are coming

Community director Marcin Momot confirmed that further hotfixes are already being prepared. One is intended to correct the bloom setting, which many players have been disabling because they feel it makes the remastered image look washed out.

A separate console audio issue is also under investigation. Until it is fixed, Geralt’s dialogue may be more difficult to hear than intended.

Players have also reported stuttering and screen tearing on PlayStation 5, along with lighting and shadow problems in performance mode. One complaint highlighted Toussaint in particular; the report appeared alongside pic.twitter.com/mJokiFeMCx on October 1, 2026.

Momot said the team hoped to include the changes in the next update, although no specific release details had been provided. He added that more information would be shared when available, as players continue to report a range of smaller but frustrating issues.

A divisive visual overhaul

The remaster’s graphics remain one of its most debated features. The update introduces techniques including path tracing, but it is not yet clear how much of the reaction reflects personal preferences about detail and strong colour contrast, versus problems with the current implementation of those technologies.
