Two smaller releases to watch
Isle of Reveries is a top-down action adventure with a clear classic console influence. Its metroidvania structure spans eight overworld biomes and seven dungeons, with each dungeon offering its own puzzles and items. It may not reach the standard set by Yacht Club’s Mina the Hollower, but its compact, exploratory design looks promising. The game launches on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
Aegis Force: The Scorian War takes a more familiar tactical-RPG foundation and gives it an unusual 2.5D HD-2D presentation. Drawing inspiration from Shining Force II and Fire Emblem, it places players in a fantasy world divided by a conflict between technology and magic. The PC Early Access release makes it one to watch for fans of strategy RPGs and distinctive pixel-influenced visuals.
