Overwatch now features 53 heroes, creating plenty of room for friendships, rivalries and possible romances. Season 4 adds a particularly unexpected hint of attraction, with the non-binary archaeologist Venture showing interest in the veteran Australian tank Roadhog.
Roadhog has been part of Overwatch since the game launched in 2016. Venture is a much newer arrival and has no established connection to the masked junker, making their new pre-match exchange an especially surprising development.
Venture sounds impressed by Roadhog
Venture initially struggles to find the right words, then draws attention to Roadhog’s height in a way that sounds more admiring than observational. Roadhog answers with a brief “uh huh”, prompting Venture to laugh and add that he is “funny, too.” The tank does not appear particularly affected, but Venture seems delighted by the exchange.
The interaction is available as part of the latest arcade and gaming news worth following for fans of character-driven multiplayer games.
A possible crush hinted at years ago
This flirtation may not lead to a story development. Lifeweaver and Baptiste also exchanged flirtatious lines when Lifeweaver joined the game, yet the two characters have never actually met in the lore.
However, Venture voice actor Valeria Rodriguez indicated that they had learned about Venture’s crush long before the game hinted at it. Rodriguez said the information may have inspired fan art made well before the interaction appeared, but that they could not reveal more because of a non-disclosure agreement.
“Without revealing too much…some information of this sort may have been hinted to me a long, LONG time ago and I may have drawn a fan art of said thing- also a long time ago.”

Roadhog’s voice actor joins the joke
Fan reactions were strong enough for the exchange to appear in the game’s “Today’s News” section. Roadhog voice actor Josh Petersdorf responded to the attention by joking that he would be looking for shovels for Valentine’s Day.

Another complication for the junker duo
Roadhog is famously reserved, although other heroes have questioned the nature of his relationship with Junkrat. When Lifeweaver asks whether the pair are a couple, Junkrat replies: “Yes! A couple of dashing rogues! Not sure what you’re missing here…”
That leaves Venture’s excavation-themed interest as an amusing possibility rather than confirmed lore. If Roadhog ever steps away from his long-time partner in crime, Venture may be ready with a new expedition—and perhaps a shovel.
