UNIS has confirmed Bigfoot Smash while continuing to preview Sailor’s Quest VR 2 and Monster Kart. The three games span family driving, virtual reality shooting and motion-based kart racing.
The news follows UNIS’s 30th anniversary celebrations. The company has also published an official highlights video of the celebration at their head offices last month. There has also been attention on and their big Emojiplanet push in prize redemption this month too.
Bigfoot Smash adds a third seat
Bigfoot Smash is the third UNIS arcade game to use the Bigfoot licence. The series began with Bigfoot Crush, revealed in the latter half of 2020 as a compact, child-friendly driving game. Players selected Bigfoot trucks and courses, raced towards the finish and crushed cars along the way. Its twin cabinet had no motion, but its smaller footprint suited younger players.
UNIS followed it in 2023 with Bigfoot Mayhem, a much larger game positioned in the same broad space as Fast & Furious Arcade. The company showed Bigfoot Smash at AAA Expo in May as a mid-sized, three-player alternative. Although it was absent from the UNIS booths at GTI Asia China Expo and IAAPA Europe, its release has now been confirmed.
The new cabinet retains a family-friendly focus while providing more room for adult players. Three seats and three control sets share one 65-inch screen. Each seat includes motion, although UNIS has not specified the number of movement axes. Unlike Bigfoot Crush, the action button is no longer built into the steering wheel; players use a large button positioned to the right.
Gameplay differences from Bigfoot Crush have not been detailed, though the available footage suggests at least some visual improvements.
Pricing has not been announced. UNIS is generally competitive in this area, and MOSS Distributing has it listed now, suggesting that the machine may already be shipping. UNIS’s own website did not yet list it at the time of writing, while the game was expected to appear at IAAPA 2024 or earlier.
Sailor’s Quest VR 2 brings a follow-up headset experience
UNIS presented several products at the GTI Asia China Expo, although photography restrictions meant that official video was initially the best way to see many of them. One of the more recognisable projects is Sailor’s Quest VR 2, an updated version of the virtual-reality motion shooter developed with IGS in 2022.
The first Sailor’s Quest VR arrived before Godzilla Kaiju Wars VR, but appears to be considerably less common in arcades. The sequel’s early trailer reveals a blue cabinet finish. Information remains limited, though the new machine is reported to use improved, lighter headsets.
Monster Kart takes a fully motion-based approach
Monster Kart is UNIS’s original entry into the arcade kart-racing market. Unlike licensed racers such as Mario Kart Arcade GP and Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Arcade, it is not built around an established entertainment property.
Its standout feature is the cabinet’s full motion system. Motion has appeared in a small number of arcade kart racers before, but UNIS’s design takes a particularly ambitious approach for the genre.
More UNIS announcements may follow
UNIS has shown additional products at GTI that have not yet received full public reveals. One or more could appear at IAAPA in November, with Bigfoot Smash looking especially likely and Sailor’s Quest VR 2 also a possibility.
