Two free PC games are available for a limited time through the Epic Games Store: the mech strategy game Mechabellum and the dice-based roguelike Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles.

Mechabellum

Mechabellum places you behind the strategy rather than the controls of a giant-robot army. Assemble and customise your forces, deploy units across the battlefield and watch each engagement unfold as you look for the right counter to your opponent.

This auto-battler includes competitive 1v1 and 2v2 matches, plus solo and cooperative survival modes. A free-for-all option adds a more chaotic alternative. The game has also earned nearly 10,000 Very Positive player reviews on Steam.

Its focus on positioning, army composition and counterplay should suit players who prefer tactical decision-making to direct character control. For more gaming and industry updates, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles

Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles reworks the deck-building roguelike format around dice instead of cards. Its combat system allows you to damage enemies, heal your own character or deliberately take wounds to activate more powerful abilities.

The dice fall into three broad categories: reliably safe, balanced and powerfully risky. That variety helps make each run distinct, with more than 350 dice available to collect. Astrea has just over 1,000 Very Positive player reviews on Steam.

Claim the games before the deadline

To claim either title, sign in to the Epic Games Store and add the game to your account. The offer ends on Thursday, 1 October, at 11 a.m. EDT, so Australian players should check the corresponding local time.

Mechabellum centres on deployment and battlefield counters, while Astrea builds its challenge around risk, healing and dice combinations. If you are planning a dedicated gaming space, RETROCADE’s arcade machine buying guide can help you compare your options.

A full-size arcade machine can suit a permanent games room, while bartop arcade cabinets offer a more compact alternative for smaller spaces.
