The Gentlemen has already secured a third season

Guy Ritchie’s crime drama universe continues to expand. The filmmaker behind Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels is currently associated with major streaming projects including Young Sherlock on Prime Video, MobLand on Paramount Plus and Netflix’s The Gentlemen.

The television spin-off from Ritchie’s 2019 film debuted in 2024. Its popularity has now earned the series a third season, even though season 2 is not scheduled to premiere until 3 September.

Where season 1 left Eddie and Susie

The story centres on Duke Eddie Horniman, played by Theo James. A former Army captain and United Nations peacekeeping officer, Eddie returns home after his father dies and attempts to protect the family estate.

That plan becomes complicated when Eddie learns his father allowed a drug dealer to run a cannabis farm on the property. Matters worsen because Eddie’s older brother, Freddy, portrayed by Daniel Ings, owes a substantial debt to another dealer.

Eddie initially intends to use the illegal operation to raise enough money to rescue his family from its financial problems. His ambitions grow throughout the season, however, and by the finale he has entered a formal partnership with Susie Glass, played by Kaya Scodelario, to help operate her father’s criminal organisation.

What the season 2 trailer reveals

The new trailer presents Eddie as a far more assertive operator. He is attempting to increase his holdings through intimidation while also lobbying for the decriminalisation of cannabis.

Those increasingly forceful tactics concern Susie and her father, Bobby Glass, played by Ray Winstone. Eddie also receives encouragement from billionaire Stanley Johnston, portrayed by Giancarlo Esposito. Stanley was imprisoned alongside Bobby at the conclusion of season 1 and appears ready to influence Eddie’s next move.

Season 2 shifts some of the action away from the English countryside and towards Italy. The trailer promises violent confrontations, unpredictable humour and a larger sense of spectacle, while continuing to develop the unresolved chemistry between Eddie and Susie.

A crime drama with a bigger playing field

The early renewal suggests Netflix sees long-term potential in Ritchie’s television take on the property. The second season has yet to arrive, but the announcement confirms that the criminal world built around the Horniman estate will continue beyond it.
