The latest trailer for the new live-action Street Fighter film embraces the series’ larger-than-life style, revealing a packed cast of familiar fighters in flamboyant costumes. Some designs look awkward, while others land with the kind of exaggerated fun that could make the film an entertainingly chaotic spectacle.
Rather than hiding its stranger choices, the movie appears to be leaning into them. Blanka and Guile remain difficult to picture in live action, but the production’s willingness to commit to its colourful world gives the film a distinct campy energy.

Ryu and Ken remain at the centre
The story continues to focus on Ryu and Ken, whose friendship has deteriorated into a tense rivalry. Earlier trailers suggested that jealousy is at least partly responsible for their falling-out, and the new footage offers a little more context for their fractured relationship.
Chun-Li brings the pair together at an upcoming tournament, where they encounter a substantial selection of characters from Capcom’s fighting-game universe. The trailer features Dhalsim, Balrog, E. Honda, Guile, Cammy and Zangief, alongside numerous other familiar faces.

A crowded tournament with a larger threat
It is not yet clear how much screen time each fighter will receive. Ryu and Ken’s conflict appears to provide the main dramatic thread, while M. Bison is pursuing a separate scheme that may ultimately force the wider group to unite against him.
That combination of personal rivalry, tournament action and an expanding ensemble gives the adaptation plenty of familiar ingredients. Whether the result feels intentionally playful or simply overstuffed will depend on how effectively the film balances its many characters.
Street Fighter is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on October 16. Another Capcom adaptation, Resident Evil, is due in cinemas on September 18, giving the publisher two major film releases to watch over the coming months.
