Raw Thrills has now presented its new Stranger Things Arcade machine in full. The game began appearing at Dave & Busters venues across North America soon after an earlier production tease, and pre-orders are now open through a preferred distributor. Units are expected to ship during summer.

The cabinet is built on a massive scale

The most striking feature is the cabinet’s size. It measures 118 inches high by 94 inches wide and 104 inches deep (H × W × D), making it a substantial footprint for any venue.

Rather than using mounted guns, Raw Thrills has created a large-screen ball-toss game. This is the company’s first machine in that format.

An 86-inch 4K monitor provides the main display. The cabinet includes start buttons and payment positions for up to four players, arranged as two teams.

Operators planning around a machine of this size may also want to compare other arcade machines and review the arcade machine buying guide before making a space or purchasing decision.

How Stranger Things Arcade plays

Stranger Things Arcade supports one to four players and is designed as a family-friendly, fast-paced ball-throwing experience based on the Netflix series. Players face Demogorgons, Demobats, Demodogs and Vecna while visiting recognisable characters and locations from the show, accompanied by its haunting soundtrack.

Raw Thrills says the game is designed for high availability and uses its proprietary Thrill-Scan ball sensing system to track throws accurately. The cabinet is intended primarily as a videmption game, supporting quick, action-focused sessions, although operators can select a non-ticket amusement mode.

A distributor sales presentation provides additional gameplay information:

The machine is supplied with 800 balls, while the manual instructs operators to install 200 for operation. The remaining balls can therefore be kept as spares.

Four Hawkins-inspired levels

The game contains four levels, each based on a location in Hawkins. The supplied screenshots are presented below at reduced resolution to conserve server space; the originals were provided in 4K. At least one apparent Raw Thrills reference can also be spotted among the scenes.

Orders and expected shipping

Pre-orders are being accepted, but the timing needs some clarification. Although the official announcement discusses the game as if it is already shipping, venues placing orders should realistically expect delivery sometime during summer.

With orders open and some early buyers potentially receiving machines ahead of broader deliveries, it is reasonable to describe the game as effectively released, even though wider location availability is still to come.
