South Park’s South America teaser puts Cartman and the boys back in the spotlight

The first teaser for the upcoming season suggests that South Park is returning to its familiar small-town formula, even as the series adopts the temporary name South America.

The rebrand is a political joke aimed at attempts to rename geographical locations, including proposals to replace the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Ontario with the Gulf of America and Lake America. The gag also references Google and Apple changing map terminology to match those names.

That title change initially raised concerns that the new season would continue focusing heavily on Donald Trump. Political satire has been a recurring target for the show, but some viewers have grown tired of that emphasis and want more time with Cartman, Stan, Kyle, Kenny and the wider supporting cast.

The season premiere centres on e-bikes

The teaser gives that audience a reason to be optimistic. Cartman is shown riding an e-bike outside Stan’s house before asking Stan to come out and see it. Stan appears surprised that Cartman’s mother bought him the bike.

E-bikes look set to cause the trouble in the premiere, following the problems that e-scooters have already created around town. The episode is titled South American Biker Gangs, although the teaser does not reveal how far the storyline will go.

When does South Park season 29 premiere?

The series’ new name is expected to remain in place until a future plot development provides a reason to change it again. Season 29 premieres on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, at 10 p.m. ET on Comedy Central. It will be available on Paramount+ the following day.
