Sonic the Hedgehog and Godzilla finally meet in IDW’s crossover comic. Issue 3 brings the two icons together after the opening chapters focused on a monster battle in Station Square.
Godzilla steps into the spotlight
The first two issues centred on Mechagodzilla and Mothra as they fought across Station Square. Sonic and his allies were left trying to contain creatures that had arrived from another dimension.
Godzilla’s appearance at the end of issue 2 changes the direction of the miniseries. The third instalment will focus on the King of the Monsters and his first direct encounter with Sonic. It is scheduled to reach comic book shops on 14 October.
Writer Nick Marino says the story has passed its point of no return. Team Sonic now faces genuine danger following the crossover, while another winged character may be ready to offer assistance. Meanwhile, Dr Eggman is beginning work on Operation Dark Future, and the final component he needs may have arrived at exactly the right moment.
Three preview pages reveal the encounter
IDW has released three preview pages from issue 3. They show Sonic and Godzilla finally sharing the same scene, although the meeting may be better described as face-to-tail.

Sonic the Hedgehog x Godzilla issue 3 is due in comic book shops on 14 October. Issues 4 and 5 are already available to pre-order.
