“Someone Needs A Lesson” is an early quest featuring Coen, and it begins close to his family home in Laslea. There is no quest giver to find: the story starts when Vasil runs through the village, shouting insults at Coen. Chase him and catch up to trigger the encounter.
The quest has several decision points involving Vasil and his father, Atanas. Your choices change the immediate scenes, but every route awards the same experience and does not appear to affect a later reward.

How to start “Someone Needs A Lesson”

Vasil is further along the path towards the centre of the village. If you are also working on “Disturbed”, you may meet him while following the footprints connected to the defiling of Kvet’s grave.
These are the key decisions in the quest:
- Choose whether to fight Vasil or speak with him.
- Decide whether to agree with Atanas about teaching Vasil a lesson.
- Choose whether to hit Vasil, refuse, or tell Atanas to leave him alone.
- Stay silent or intervene when Atanas begins beating Vasil.
- Apologise to Vasil, or choose not to.
The sections below explain what happens after each choice.
Should you fight Vasil or talk to him?

When Coen catches Vasil, you can either confront him physically or try to talk. The result at this stage is broadly similar: Vasil’s father, Atanas, arrives and breaks up the encounter. This happens regardless of which option you select and regardless of whether Coen wins or loses the fight.
Should you agree to teach Vasil a lesson?

Atanas reprimands Vasil and then offers Coen the chance to punish him. Agreeing takes Vasil to a tree, where Atanas orders him to remove his shirt before the beating begins.
Continue refusing and Atanas challenges Coen instead. Whether you win or lose that fight, the quest later moves to a scene in which Vasil sits quietly on a bench.
Should you beat Vasil beside the tree?

If Coen agrees to punish Vasil, the next choice is whether to follow through. Accepting begins an interactive scene in which Coen strikes Vasil several times across the back with a stick. The scars already visible there make it clear that Atanas has done this before.
Refuse to hit Vasil and Atanas offers to do it himself. You can intervene and say that you will not allow him to continue. If you then accuse Atanas of being drunk, the exchange becomes a fight against him.
Alternatively, say nothing. A cutscene then shows Atanas beating Vasil with the stick.
What should you say to Vasil at the end?

Whatever path you take, Coen later notices Vasil sitting on a bench while passing by. The available dialogue depends on your earlier decisions. Coen may apologise, say that he hopes Vasil has learned something, or dismiss the conversation with “never mind”.
These endings are effectively equivalent. The quest concludes and grants 250 XP.
Vasil can appear again much later, after the prologue, when he gives Coen an amulet. The choices made during “Someone Needs A Lesson” do not appear to influence that gift.
Quest outcome and what to do next
The Blood of Dawnwalker is a time-sensitive narrative RPG built around consequential choices. After the prologue, Coen can explore Vale Sangora and deal with Brencis’ boyars in a more open-ended way, although that freedom can be difficult to navigate.
