Skip and Loafer returns in April 2027
The warm-hearted anime rom-com Skip and Loafer is set to return for its second season in April 2027, following its original premiere in 2023.

The announcement arrived on 16 August 2026 through the official Skip and Loafer website. It included a teaser trailer running for just under a minute, along with a commemorative illustration.

The preview revisits Mitsumi Iwakura, Sōsuke Shima and the supporting cast as they continue navigating everyday high-school life. Mitsumi provides the narration, reflecting that change is unavoidable while looking forward to what comes next.
A gentle Tokyo school story

Mitsumi moves from her small hometown to Tokyo to attend high school. City life and the larger school initially feel unfamiliar, but she soon forms a close friendship with Shima, a popular classmate whose easygoing personality gives him an almost golden-retriever-like charm.
The series follows the pair as their feelings gradually develop, while giving substantial attention to friends and family. That broader ensemble is a major part of the show’s appeal and has helped make it one of the standout anime rom-coms of recent years.

Returning cast and production team
The season two news also brought a message from Mitsumi’s Japanese voice actor, Tomoyo Kurosawa:
“I have been feeling restless the whole time, because I am so excited that I will be able to see Mitsumi and the others again. Being able to gather with the exact same group again after a few years is not something to take for granted, and I feel extremely happy. I want to savor this special moment and run through the story. With a single-minded dedication in my heart that would make Mitsumi proud! I will do my best! Yeah!”
Akinori Egoshi, who voices Shima, added that he was looking forward to everyone enjoying Skip and Loafer together again.
Much of the key staff from season one is returning. The team includes director and composer Kotomi Deai and character designer Manami Umeshita.
