Golf is stepping onto the arcade floor with the arrival of Putt It! Par-Tee, a new video redemption game from Sega Amusements. The title is now shipping, bringing a quick-fire putting game designed for individual play or competitive group sessions.
Putt It! Par-Tee Begins Shipping
Sega Amusements recently announced the release after revealing the game late in 2025 ahead of IAAPA 2025. It had also undergone location testing in the United Kingdom. Development came from Sega Amusements’ in-house team, Odd Dragon Studios, the name also used for 2024’s Zombies! Ready, Deady, Go.
The game arrives as interest in indoor golf entertainment continues to build. Sega had previously sold 501 Fun’s Interactive Mini Golf, but Putt It! Par-Tee takes a notably different approach by combining physical putting with arcade redemption play.
Mini Golf Meets Alley Bowling
Players use real putters to send golf balls towards seven scoring holes. Successful shots award points and tickets, while stronger scores make each player’s on-screen character move faster. The result sits somewhere between mini golf and an alley bowler such as Skee-Ball.
The basic idea has an earlier arcade precedent in Rock-Ola’s 1985 game Putter Golf, which also centred on putting balls into scoring targets. Sega’s modern version expands the concept with a twin-cabinet format, video displays and linked multiplayer.
Six-Player Competition
One unit supports two players, while up to three pairs of cabinets can be connected for a six-player contest. That linked configuration is intended to turn the game into a social attraction, with players competing side by side while a large shared screen helps draw attention from the surrounding arcade floor.
Each participant is assigned one of six fully voiced cartoon characters: Zorq the Alien, Hazel the Witch, Captain Mulligan, Dimples the Clown, Unit 32 the Robot and Dr. Eagle. Their animated appearances continue on screen as the clock counts down.
Designed for Continuous Action
A fresh ball is dispensed automatically after every successful putt, keeping turns moving rather than forcing players to pause between shots. The closing ten seconds add a Double Points Final Shot, giving competitors a last opportunity to improve their totals.
Bright artwork, colourful lighting and the physical putting action give the cabinet a distinctive presence. Like other arcade machines, its appeal will depend on how effectively it combines an approachable first play with enough challenge to encourage repeat attempts.
Early Location Sightings
As shipping began in June 2026, the game was already appearing at some venues. A location in Cornwall, England, was highlighted in this post and the accompanying photo from @CRetrogaming. There were also expected to be one or two examples operating in North America, although the number of venues installing the complete six-player linked arrangement was not yet clear.
Why Indoor Golf Suits Arcades
Indoor golf removes weather restrictions and makes the activity easier to fit into modern social outings. A BBC Sport report described the wider growth of indoor and virtual golf, including predictions that these formats could eventually rival traditional outdoor play.
That trend aligns with the strengths of arcades and family entertainment centres: short sessions, straightforward controls, friendly competition and an experience that works for groups. Putt It! Par-Tee packages those qualities into a physical attraction that can be played casually but rewards accuracy and timing.
