Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World is set to return with the second cour of its fourth season, bringing Subaru Natsuki back into the time-looping crisis teased in Kadokawa’s new trailer for the “Recapture Arc”.
The trailer points to more attempts by Subaru to change a disastrous future. His ability to return after death remains both his greatest advantage and one of the series’ most punishing burdens.
Season 4 began on April 8 and completed its first 11 episodes on June 17. The latest run has been the anime’s best received so far, earning a 9.15 user score on MyAnimeList. That places it second among the platform’s highest-rated anime, behind the first season of Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End.
The season’s most recent episode also generated substantial attention. It debuted with a perfect 10/10 rating on IMDb after 23,000 reviews, briefly making it the highest-rated television episode on the platform. Its score later fell slightly to 9.9 after reaching 71,000 reviews, but the response shows how much interest surrounds the remaining episodes.
When does Re:Zero season 4 return?
The final eight episodes of season 4 begin airing on August 12, following a nine-week break between the first and second cours. The returning episodes are expected to adapt material through volume 25 of the light novel series, which has passed 45 volumes and is still continuing.
Re:Zero started as a web novel on the self-publishing platform Shōsetsuka ni Narō. It later moved into print through Media Factory in Japan and Yen Press in North America.
