Rain World Anthology Edition is coming to Nintendo Switch 2
Rain World, Videocult’s atmospheric survival platformer, is receiving a definitive physical release through Rain World Anthology Edition. The collection was announced during Akupara Games’ first showcase, alongside news about several other independent projects.
The anthology will be released physically for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version also planned. Akupara Games is working with Serenity Forge on two editions: a standard release with an embossed slipcover and a Collector’s Edition containing an art book, scarf, keychain, standee, sticker sheet and soundtrack.

A demanding world built around survival
Rain World combines cinematic puzzle-platforming with survival mechanics. Players control a slugcat travelling through a post-apocalyptic environment, where finding food, avoiding or fighting other animals, and reaching a hibernation shelter before lethal rain arrives are all essential.
Its harsh difficulty and constant pressure will not suit every player, but the distinctive setting and unforgiving systems have earned the game a devoted following and cult-classic status.
What else was announced at Akupara Direct?
Rain World Anthology Edition was the showcase’s biggest reveal, but Akupara also shared news about upcoming and previously announced games.
- Airframe Ultra, Videocult’s next game, is scheduled to launch on November 5.
- Bonespire, from Cryptmaster developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams, was announced as a crafting simulation set in a wizard tower.
- Retro platformer Aokaki was announced alongside the desktop companion app Working with Montabi.
- The second episode of Kumitantei: Old Slaughter is due to arrive on Steam on November 12.
- The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon received a new trailer and demo.
