Pokémon TCG Pocket Slows Set Releases to Ease Player Concerns
Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is changing how often it releases new card sets, giving players more time to collect cards, build decks and complete in-game activities.

The game’s Operations Team has announced a series of updates planned for its second anniversary. The most significant change is a move from monthly card releases to a new set every six weeks. The revised schedule will begin with the upcoming C series of releases.
That slower pace may be welcome for players who have found the current schedule difficult to follow. Collectors trying to complete each set and competitive players keeping up with the changing metagame have had little time between releases.

What else is changing in Pokémon TCG Pocket?
The longer gap between sets is only one part of the planned changes. New missions and events will be expanded around pack releases, while some rewards will give collectors more reasons to keep playing between launches.
- Immersive cards: Players will be able to obtain cards featuring animated scenes by completing collections and missions.
- One-star promo cards: New missions will reward promo cards with unique illustrations.
- Special Packs: These packs will use stamina that replenishes weekly. The first, called First Partners, will feature starter Pokémon from each of the nine regions represented in earlier Pokémon games.

Community Decks and new battle options
Deck building is also receiving several changes. A new Community Decks feature will let players browse decks created by other users and copy them in-game.
Rental decks and starter decks are being made more useful, with unlimited uses and access in versus play. The game will also introduce Limited Battles, a new event format that restricts the available card pool. Players who take part can earn accessories.
Trading is set for a smaller but practical improvement. A future feature will make it easier to see which cards a potential trading partner still needs.

Why the update matters
The changes arrive as the mobile card game attempts to respond to a declining player base. A financial report stated that the game averaged about 23 million monthly active users between April and June 2026, down 41% from the same period in the previous year.
Recent additions have included a card set that guaranteed rare cards and the introduction of dual-typing. However, the game’s interface and general responsiveness remain concerns, particularly when daily missions require navigating a slow app.
