Pokémon Pokopia’s first Halloween event, Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises, adds nine spooky furnishings, two special habitats and two Pokémon encounters. Here’s how to earn pumpkin candies, claim every reward and attract Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist.

How to start the Pumpkaboo’s Sweet Surprises event
The event runs from 17 October at 5:00 am until 1 November at 4:59 am, using the time set on your Nintendo Switch. Changing the console clock can let you access the event if you miss it.
There is only one requirement: you must have rebuilt at least one Pokémon Center. To earn the event currency, you must also learn Camouflage from Zorua after progressing through the Bleak Beach questline.

When the event begins, the game announces that a Pokémon is the talk of the town. Visit your rebuilt Pokémon Center and speak with Pumpkaboo. It will offer event furnishings in exchange for pumpkin candies, then become your friend.
Gourgeist can also join you, but you must build one of the two new event habitats first. Event items are purchased inside the Pokémon Center. Furnishings you already own can be duplicated with the 3D printer.
How to earn pumpkin candy
Pumpkaboo asks you to frighten other Pokémon. Use Ditto’s Camouflage ability to disguise it as something the target Pokémon likes, then approach carefully.

The correct disguise depends on the Pokémon. A mushroom streetlight, for example, can work on Pokémon that prefer bright habitats, while a more specific object such as a punching bag can fool Hitmonchan. Each Pokémon can only be scared once.
Stay close and listen for the Pokémon to comment on the disguised object. When it recognises the object, remove Camouflage to startle it. Dropping the disguise before the Pokémon identifies it will not work. The frightened Pokémon gives between one and three pumpkin candies; it is unclear whether that amount is random or determined by another factor.
All event rewards
There are nine new furnishing items, costing 20 pumpkin candies in total. Because each scare awards a variable number of candies, expect to frighten roughly seven to 20 Pokémon to buy everything.

If your priority is building the new habitats, buy the candy bucket, ghost smoke projector, pumpkin lantern, pumpkin lantern tower and Trevenant streetlight first. Purchasing every event item awards the Trick or Treat photo frame.

Event habitats and Pokémon
Exchange candies for the required furnishings, then assemble the two event habitats. Their entries do not appear in the Habitat Dex until you have built each one at least once.

- Habitat 8 — Give me something good to eat: Requires one table of any type, one ghost smoke projector and one candy bucket. This habitat attracts Pumpkaboo.
- Habitat 9 — Creepy pumpkins: Requires one Trevenant streetlight, one pumpkin lantern tower and one pumpkin lantern. This habitat attracts Gourgeist.
