Planning ahead with the Pokémon Go raid schedule can help you decide where to spend your standard and Remote Raid Passes throughout August.
Raid bosses generally rotate every seven to 10 days. Raids appear at gyms between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. local time. While a raid is still an egg, its difficulty can be identified by the icons shown: five-star raids display five monster symbols, Mega raids use the Mega swirl, and Shadow raids take place at gyms controlled by Team Go Rocket.
This guide covers August’s major raid targets: legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beasts, Mega Pokémon, and Shadow legendary Pokémon. For more gaming coverage, visit the RETROCADE Arcade Blog.
Pokémon Go legendary raid schedule for August 2026
Five-star raids featuring legendary Pokémon and Ultra Beasts follow this timetable:
- July 29 to August 4: Kyurem*
- August 5 to 11: Uxie* in the Asia-Pacific region; Mesprit* in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India; and Azelf* in the Americas and Greenland
- August 12 to 18: Groudon*
- August 19 to 25: Lunala*
- August 26 to September 8: Regirock*, Regice* and Registeel*
*A shiny version is available. A shiny legendary is guaranteed to be caught if your Poké Ball connects, so using a Pinap Berry can provide extra Candy.
Pokémon Go Mega raid schedule for August 2026
Mega raids rotate through the following Pokémon:
- July 29 to August 4: Mega Aggron*
- August 5 to 11: Mega Blaziken*
- August 12 to 18: Mega Garchomp*
- August 19 to 25: Mega Swampert*
- August 26 to September 8: Mega Gyarados*
*A shiny version is available.
The Mega Pokémon itself is not available to catch after the battle. Instead, you encounter its standard form and receive Mega Energy. The amount of Energy depends on how quickly your team defeats the raid boss, allowing you to Mega Evolve that Pokémon later.
Pokémon Go Shadow legendary raid schedule for August 2026
August’s Shadow legendary raid boss is Altered Forme Giratina, and its shiny version is available.
Shadow raids generally appear on weekends, although occasional Shadow legendary raids have also appeared during the week. These battles are considerably more difficult, so bringing a team and as many Purified Gems as possible is strongly recommended.
Catching the Shadow legendary after the battle can also be challenging because it moves more frequently. Take your time, stay patient and wait for a reliable throwing opportunity.
