Nickit Community Day takes place on Sunday, 16 August, from 2–5 pm in your local time. The Dark-type fox will appear frequently across Pokémon Go, with a strong opportunity to encounter its shiny form.

How to find shiny Nickit in Pokémon Go
Community Day shiny odds are about 1 in 24, based on earlier research preserved by the Wayback Machine. Playing throughout the three-hour event should give you several chances to find shiny Nickit.
If your time or Poké Balls are limited, activate an Incense and tap each Nickit to check it. Run from any that are not shiny, then move on to the next spawn. Nickit that you have already tapped will turn to face your trainer, making it easier to recognise Pokémon you have checked.
What move does Thievul learn?
Evolving Nickit into Thievul between 2 and 9 pm local time teaches the charged move Icy Wind.
If you miss the evolution window, a Community Day weekend event in December is expected to provide another opportunity to obtain Icy Wind. An Elite TM can also teach the move without waiting.
Thievul’s best moveset and battle role
Thievul is not useful in PvE activities such as raids and gyms. It is outclassed by many other Dark-type Pokémon, so it is not a strong investment for raid damage. Its highest-DPS moveset is Snarl and Play Rough, although there is little reason to power one up for PvE unless you particularly like Thievul.
Icy Wind gives Thievul a more meaningful role in PvP. Its recommended moveset is Sucker Punch, Night Slash and Icy Wind. It has become a fairly solid choice in the Great League and has also improved in the Ultra League, though Great League remains its better format. It has moved up the rankings in the Great League.

Nickit Community Day bonuses
The following bonuses are active during the event:
- Triple Stardust from catching Pokémon
- Double Catch Candy
- Double chance of receiving XL Candy from catches for trainers at level 31 or above
- Incense lasts for three hours
- Lure Modules last for one hour
- Nickit can appear as a special photobomb when taking snapshots
- One additional Special Trade
- Trading Stardust costs are reduced by half
A Star Piece is particularly useful during the Stardust bonus, while Incense can increase the number of Nickit encounters available to check for shinies.
How to maximise your catches
Mega Evolving Gyarados, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Sableye, Sharpedo, Absol or Malamar provides additional Nickit Candy for each catch.
The ongoing Lure Module Bonus also increases Nickit spawns from placed Lure Modules between 2 and 9 pm. This continues after the main Community Day period ends at 5 pm, and lured spawns can still include shiny Nickit or Nickit with a Special Background at the increased Community Day shiny rate.
