PlayStation’s State of Play presentations return on Thursday, 3 September, with two livestreams scheduled back to back. The first showcase will include an extended look at Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, while a dedicated State of Play Japan broadcast will follow immediately afterwards.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that the events will cover upcoming games from PlayStation Studios and external development partners. Together, they may also provide an early look at PlayStation’s presence at next month’s Tokyo Game Show.
When to watch the September State of Play
The main September State of Play begins at 6am PDT and 9am EDT in North America. For European viewers, that is 3pm CEST, while the Japanese start time is 10pm JST.
Australian viewers should check the local conversion carefully, as the published schedule uses North American, European and Japanese time zones. The presentation will stream through PlayStation’s YouTube channel and Twitch channel.
What has been confirmed
Sony has not specified the length of the first broadcast. It has, however, confirmed that the programme will feature updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners.
Square Enix is among those partners. The publisher will show more of the “vast world” of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, described as the final chapter of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake project.
State of Play Japan follows
Once the first presentation ends, PlayStation will stream a new episode of State of Play Japan, hosted by Yuki Kaji. The Japanese-language broadcast will include English subtitles.
Its focus is on upcoming games from studios in Japan and across Asia, with promised gameplay footage, announcements and additional details.
PlayStation’s recent showcase history
PlayStation’s previous general State of Play took place in June, excluding the separate presentation devoted to Phantom Blade Zero. That June event highlighted Marvel’s Wolverine, God of War Laufey, Kemuri: Hunt the Unseen and Until Dawn 2.
Other announced PlayStation Studios projects include Fairgames, Horizon Hunters Gathering and Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. The September broadcasts may reveal whether any of those games return to the spotlight.
