Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the lineup on 12 August 2026. The additions are available to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, although the release schedule is staggered. The full August game lineup includes a mix of major action games, RPGs, co-operative shooters and smaller releases.

Released in February 2025, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II quickly became a contender for that year’s Game of the Year awards. It returns players to the role of Henry, the protagonist from the first game, during a period of civil war in 15th-century Europe.

Henry’s latest journey centres on revenge, betrayal and self-discovery. Despite being a direct sequel to the 2018 original, the medieval role-playing game was designed to be approachable for newcomers as well as returning players. Its historical setting and character-driven storytelling make it the most substantial single-player addition in this month’s catalogue.

More than medieval adventures

The update covers a wide range of play styles. Helldivers 2 brings co-operative science-fiction combat to PS5, while Vampire Survivors offers its fast, replayable survival-action format on both PS4 and PS5. Metro Exodus and Dying Light 2 add post-apocalyptic first-person action to the selection.

PlayStation Plus August 2026 Game Catalog Update

How the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog works

The Game Catalog is included with the PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium tiers, which sit above Essential. It gives subscribers access to hundreds of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games to download and play while their membership remains active, making it Sony’s answer to the subscription model popularised by Xbox Game Pass.

August’s PlayStation Plus Essential games are separate from the Game Catalog update. They are also available to download and include Big Walk, another title identified as a 2025 Game of the Year contender.

A strong month for subscription gaming

With a major 2025 RPG at the top, a popular co-operative shooter available first, and a broad supporting list across PS4 and PS5, August offers plenty for subscribers to explore. Players building a dedicated home gaming space can also browse RETROCADE’s arcade news and gaming coverage, compare options in the arcade machine buying guide, or explore available arcade cabinets.

As always with a rotating subscription catalogue, the most useful next step is to check the individual game pages and your local Australian account for final access dates. The listed US dates provide the announced rollout order, but they should not be treated as confirmed Australian release times.
