Paralives lets players create a household, find a partner, marry, build a life and eventually raise children. However, its first baby designs have attracted plenty of criticism for looking unexpectedly old, tired and distinctly unlike infants.

The main complaint centres on the babies’ facial proportions. Their eyes and other features sit relatively small and centrally on the face, while the head does not appear large enough in relation to the body. That combination makes some of the characters look more like miniature adults than young children.
Players have also noticed unusually prominent under-eye bags and, in at least one case, what appears to be an early moustache. The result has inspired comparisons ranging from cartoon characters to old-fashioned artistic depictions of babies, rather than the cheerful infant look many players expected.

Paralives babies are getting a visual update
The development team has acknowledged that the baby models need further work. The revised designs adjust their appearance to create more recognisably infant-like faces, with proportions intended to better match the way babies are generally depicted.
“We heard you loud and clear… the babies needed some work!”
The team shared a preview of the updated designs and said they are scheduled to arrive with the next patch on August 10, 2026. The announcement was posted on July 28, 2026, alongside a preview image.
Not everyone is unhappy with the original style. Some players have said they will miss its unusual character, even while joking that the models resembled medieval depictions of babies.
A small change with a big visual effect
Baby characters are only one part of a life-simulation game, but they can strongly shape how believable a family feels. Updating the eyes, head shape and facial-feature placement should help Paralives keep its stylised identity without making its youngest characters look prematurely grown.
