Onimusha: Way of the Sword brings Capcom’s samurai action series into the modern era, with the historical swordsman Miyamoto Musashi leading the fight through Eastern Kyoto.

The game is built around demanding combat. Players must manage stamina while blocking relentless attacks, weaken opponents and create openings for critical strikes against formidable bosses.

Release information listed on the PlayStation Store page and Steam DB places the launch at 12 a.m. EDT on Friday, 4 September.

Capcom’s pre-order rewards vary by edition. The standard and deluxe editions each include a defined set of cosmetic items, while the premium deluxe package adds further outfits, haori and a digital soundtrack.

• Standard edition: Lion Dog charm and Sealed Curse sword appearance.
• Deluxe edition: Lion Dog charm, White Monkey charm, Sealed Curse sword appearance and White Lion sword appearance.

The deluxe and premium deluxe editions also include the following additional content. The premium deluxe edition contains every deluxe item as well as its own expanded selection:

• Deluxe edition: Little Dancer charm, Mentor charm, Bamboo & Panda sword appearance, Whittled Oar sword appearance, Raizan sword appearance, Enryuu sword appearance, Musashi’s Red Armor outfit and Crimson Lotus oni gauntlet.
