Netflix’s One Piece slate keeps growing
One Piece is heading into another busy stretch, with Netflix developing several different versions of the celebrated pirate saga. Alongside the ongoing manga, Toei Animation’s long-running series and the third season of the live-action show, Netflix has now unveiled more of its unexpected LEGO adaptation.
The new LEGO One Piece trailer previews a two-part special that retells the story covered by the live-action series. The brick-built production uses the same voice cast as the live-action adaptation and is scheduled to arrive on 29 September 2026.
A fast-moving retelling of the East Blue
The trailer follows the Straw Hat Pirates as they begin their voyage towards the Grand Line and face Buggy the Clown. Rather than presenting every event at full length, the special appears designed as a brisk recap. A VCR-style fast-forward effect signals a jump from the early adventures to the Drum Island storyline, where Chopper becomes part of the wider story.
The framing suggests that Usopp is recounting the crew’s exploits, with a few likely embellishments along the way. That approach could make the special a useful refresher before the live-action series returns for its third season in 2027.
The One Piece begins again
Netflix has also shared a new teaser image for The One Piece, a separate anime remake that will retell the saga from its beginning.
WIT Studio is producing the remake. The studio’s previous work includes Spy x Family, Attack on Titan and Ranking of Kings. The project is expected to follow the manga more closely than Toei Animation’s continuing anime and will not include the filler arcs associated with that long-running adaptation.
The One Piece is due to premiere on Netflix in February 2027. The third season of Netflix’s live-action series is also planned for 2027.
A new One Piece game is on the way
The franchise’s expansion is not limited to screen adaptations. One Piece Grand Gourmet is a restaurant-management game from Kairosoft, the developer known for simulation titles such as Game Dev Story.
The game is scheduled for release on 23 October 2026 for mobile devices, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2 and Steam.
The manga and anime continue
The manga has reached chapter 1190 and is still progressing. Creator Eiichiro Oda has indicated that his decade-spanning story is beginning to wind down, with the conclusion expected within the next few years.
Toei’s anime remains close behind the manga. After years of weekly episodes, production is being reduced to 26 episodes or fewer per year. Even with both the manga and anime potentially approaching their endings, Netflix’s LEGO special, anime remake and live-action continuation give fans plenty of One Piece to follow.
