The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake will occupy 27 GB on Nintendo Switch 2, making it the largest mainline Zelda release so far by file size.

The figure comes from a photograph of the Japanese download card, shared by Genki_JPN. It is a striking increase over the 32 MB cartridge used by the original Nintendo 64 release in 1998: the Switch 2 version is more than 800 times larger.
How the remake compares with other Zelda games
A 27 GB install is not unusual beside some modern blockbuster games. Call of Duty titles, for example, can exceed 200 GB on consoles. Within Nintendo’s mainline Zelda series, however, the remake currently takes the top spot.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom uses 24 GB on Switch 2, while the 2025 musou spin-off Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is larger at just over 43 GB. That leaves the Ocarina of Time remake between the two in the broader Zelda line-up.

What the Ocarina of Time remake adds
The larger download reflects a substantial visual overhaul, a more complex art direction and an expanded game world. The remake also modernises the original adventure with new features, including the ability to jump whenever the player wants.
It is scheduled to launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 November. That places its release close to Grand Theft Auto 6, with Nintendo among the few major publishers willing to launch a game in that busy period.
Hands-on impressions highlighted a version that preserves the feel of Link’s first 3D adventure while updating its presentation and playability. The refreshed graphics and modern controls aim to make the classic more accessible without losing its identity.
A bigger game for modern storage
The 27 GB requirement is unlikely to challenge current consoles in the same way as the biggest third-party releases, but it is notable for a Nintendo remake based on a 1998 Nintendo 64 title. Switch 2 owners planning to download it should check their available storage before launch.
