The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is still a week from release, yet interest is already intense. Alongside the game, Nintendo is launching a Zelda-themed Switch 2 console, creating a high-demand release where both hardware and special-edition packaging may be difficult to secure.

How to buy Ocarina of Time
The game itself should be the simplest part of the launch. Digital copies are expected to remain available, while several retailers are planning midnight events on November 5.
The Nintendo Store in New York is holding a reservations-only midnight launch, but reservations are already full. Best Buy and selected GameStop stores are also scheduled to run events. Best Buy says customers can attend and buy the game without a pre-order, subject to remaining stock.
A local GameStop advised that its midnight release is currently restricted to pre-orders, although that policy could change before November 5. Customers should check with their nearest store before making plans. There was no confirmed information about midnight events at Target or Walmart.
What is the special foil cover?
Physical launch copies will use a textured, foil-gilded cover. Nintendo has described this as packaging for the first print run, meaning copies bought at launch—whether pre-ordered or purchased in-store—should include it.
Nintendo has not confirmed how long the first print run will continue or when standard packaging will replace it. Collectors who specifically want the foil edition should therefore avoid waiting if stock is available.

Can you still pre-order the Zelda-themed Switch 2?
Pre-orders for the themed Switch 2 sold out soon after the console was announced. Walmart appeared to accept orders later, but reports from customers on Reddit said some Walmart pre-orders were cancelled the day before the console’s scheduled October 29 arrival.
Best Buy has announced that some consoles will be held back for its November 5 midnight event rather than allocated entirely to pre-orders. Players have also reported that Walmart might have some stock too on October 29.
One GameStop store said it expected limited console stock on October 29, with customers already planning to wait outside. Best Buy did not confirm its inventory plans when contacted, saying staff could not share stock information.
In practical terms, buyers without a pre-order may need to try Walmart or GameStop on October 29, or attend Best Buy’s midnight launch on November 5. Resale listings are another option, but they carry the risk of paying well above the official price.

Are the Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controllers sold out?
The Zelda-themed Switch 2 Pro Controller is scheduled to launch on October 29. It may be easier to find than the console, but demand is expected to make it challenging to secure.
The controller’s official recommended retail price is $99. Resellers are already listing it for roughly $30 to $50 above that price. Nintendo is also releasing a Zelda-themed Switch 2 carrying case, although availability is expected to be limited.
