After years of speculation about Uncharted 5, a new report claims Naughty Dog is preparing another adventure in its popular treasure-hunting series once work on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is complete.
The project is reportedly planned as a fresh instalment rather than a remake. Naughty Dog veteran Shaun Escayg is said to be leading development. Escayg returned to the studio in 2021 after working at Crystal Dynamics on Marvel’s Avengers.
Nathan Drake is also reportedly set to appear, although his role has not been explained. The project appears to be at an early concept stage, meaning its direction and even its current plans could change.

Industry leaker NateTheHate has added weight to the claim. He first posted that Escayg was not working on any of the recently teased The Last of Us projects. He later confirmed that he understood Escayg to be involved with a new Uncharted game.
Another detail has encouraged speculation: earlier this year, Escayg shared an Instagram photograph of an old cannon at Fort George in Trinidad and Tobago. That image is far from proof, but it has contributed to the theory that Naughty Dog is revisiting the series.
Even if the project is real, a release may be a long way off. Naughty Dog has released games at a measured pace during the PlayStation 5 generation, so fans should not expect an immediate announcement or launch. Naughty Dog has promised a full reveal of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet in 2027. The most optimistic projection for a new Uncharted would place it somewhere in the first half of the PS6 lifecycle, but there is no confirmed release window.
