Modern Warfare 4 beta start times for Australia and worldwide

Modern Warfare 4 is preparing for its first playable beta, giving fans an early look at 2026’s return to the series. Infinity Ward is leading development after two consecutive Black Ops releases from Treyarch.

The new campaign is set during a conflict between North and South Korea, marking the franchise’s first visit to Korea. The beta will include multiplayer as well as a campaign mission.

When does the Modern Warfare 4 beta start?

The first, closed beta begins at 2 p.m. EDT on Friday, 21 August 2026. Australian players on the east coast can join at 4 a.m. AEST on Saturday, 22 August.

• 11 a.m. PDT, Friday 21 August – west coast of North America
• 2 p.m. EDT, Friday 21 August – east coast of North America
• 3 p.m. BRT, Friday 21 August – Brazil
• 7 p.m. BST, Friday 21 August – United Kingdom
• 8 p.m. CEST, Friday 21 August – western Europe
• 3 a.m. JST, Saturday 22 August – Japan
• 4 a.m. AEST, Saturday 22 August – Australia’s east coast

This opening weekend is closed, so an access code is required.

Open beta weekend start times

The second weekend is open to everyone and starts at 1 p.m. EDT on Friday, 28 August. In Australia’s eastern states, that means a 3 a.m. AEST start on Saturday, 29 August.

Both beta periods finish at 1 p.m. EDT on the following Tuesday: 25 August for the first weekend and 1 September for the second.

How to get a Modern Warfare 4 beta code

There are two guaranteed ways to access the closed beta. The first is to pre-order the game on your chosen platform. The Nintendo Switch 2 is excluded because the beta will not be available on that console. A pre-order provides a redeemable code.

The other option is an active Discord Nitro subscription. Open Discord’s Nitro Home section, scroll down to the Modern Warfare 4 early-play option, choose “unlock reward”, and follow the instructions.

Players with access can preload the closed beta from 12 p.m. EDT on Thursday, 20 August. The open weekend preload becomes available to everyone else from 12 p.m. EDT on Thursday, 26 August.
