Alan-1 has revealed an early look at its upcoming arcade version of Missile Command Recharged, following the company’s second annual Major League eSports League World Championship.
Missile Command Recharged gets a new arcade format
The project reunites Alan-1 with Atari SA after their previous collaboration on Asteroids Recharged. This new machine will bring another classic Atari property into arcades through the Recharged series, although full details have not yet been announced.
The teaser shows a bespoke two-player pedestal-style cabinet with a substantially larger footprint than the original Missile Command machine and Alan-1’s first two arcade releases.
A large flatscreen dominates the design, with the display appearing to measure around 75 inches and possibly as much as 85 inches. Twin bench seating gives both players room to operate the cabinet together.
The control layout also gives this version a distinctive identity. Alongside a new lower screen panel, players will find additional game controls, including a large red button positioned centrally for one or both players to hit. A retro-style telephone is included for in-game calls, adding another unusual physical element to the experience.
More Atari Recharged arcade conversions planned
Missile Command Recharged is only one part of Alan-1’s plans. The company also announced that it will bring the remaining Atari Recharged titles, excluding Asteroids Recharged, to its upright two-player cabinet during 2025.
Caverns of Mars is scheduled to come next. The title has not previously received an arcade adaptation, making its transition to a dedicated cabinet particularly worth watching.
Further information about Missile Command Recharged and the other planned releases is expected at Amusement Expo in March, which Alan-1 will attend.
