After being teased through updates during 2022, Series 2 collectible cards have arrived for Minecraft Dungeons Arcade. The release adds 38 cards, taking the complete card collection to 98.
Hidden Depths joins the arcade game
The card release is accompanied by a new playable level: Hidden Depths. The update was demonstrated at IAAPA 2022, where the level required two existing stages to be completed before it became available.
Series 2 cards have already reached selected Dave & Buster’s and Round1 USA venues. Operators who want to order the cards can contact their distributor. The update also features new artwork and gives the game’s underwater dodge sequence a more effective feel, although its actual function and distance may not have changed.
More content is planned
Footage from the IAAPA presentation indicates that three more levels are intended for a future update. If that plan remains unchanged, later content could eventually lead to a Series 5 card release.
How will the update affect earnings?
New card waves have previously helped increase player interest in other ticket and collectible arcade titles, including Injustice Arcade. That makes the Series 2 launch worth watching for operators tracking repeat play and card demand.
Performance from one Minecraft Dungeons Arcade unit has been uneven despite reportedly ranking as the second-highest-grossing game of the year at the time of the figures discussed. Weekly token collections have varied considerably: some weeks were strong, others were around one-third as high, followed by a recovery the next week.
That volatility is different from the steadier weekly results often seen from other machines, although total earnings remain the most important measure. It will be interesting to see whether Series 2 and Hidden Depths create a more consistent pattern across venues.
