Metaphor: ReFantazio players can now try Atlus’ 2024 fantasy RPG on Nintendo Switch 2, with the Prologue Demo appearing on selected regional eShops ahead of the full game’s 12 November release.
How to access the Switch 2 demo
The Prologue Demo began appearing for download on 12 October. It is currently listed on the Japanese Nintendo eShop and the Australian Nintendo eShop, with other regions expected to follow shortly.
When the demo reaches your region, look for the Download Demo option beneath the pre-order button on the game’s store page. RPG Site was among the outlets to spot the regional listings.

What the Prologue Demo includes
The trial covers the opening section of Metaphor: ReFantazio and is also available on other platforms. Progress carries over to the full game, so players will not need to restart when the Switch 2 version launches.
The demo ends when players reach a set point in the story or after three in-game days, whichever happens first. That should provide several hours to sample the RPG’s opening and decide whether the complete adventure is right for you.
More Atlus games are coming to Switch 2
The Switch 2 edition of Metaphor: ReFantazio arrives more than two years after the game’s original release on other major platforms. Atlus’ upcoming projects suggest future Switch 2 ports may not involve quite such a long wait.
Persona 4 Revival is scheduled to launch on Switch 2 on 20 May next year. Although that release is still three months after the game arrives on other platforms, the gap is considerably shorter than the wait for Metaphor: ReFantazio.
Atlus has also confirmed that Persona 6 will launch on Switch 2. Sega has announced that the Switch 2 edition will receive a physical release, although no release date has been revealed. More information is expected after Persona 4 Revival launches.
