Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls launched on August 6, with the PlayStation 5 edition receiving a more positive early response than the Steam version. PC players reported severe performance problems, including online lag, stuttering and inconsistent frame rates. Fighting-game streamer Maximilian Dood even uninstalled the game during a live broadcast.
Arc System Works has now released maintenance updates aimed at the PC build’s biggest technical issues. Early player reports suggest the patch has delivered a noticeably smoother experience, with one community member saying it fixed “all” the problems they had experienced since launch.
The changes focus on CPU usage, sudden frame-rate drops, audio processing and graphics detection. PC players should also complete the shader warm-up prompted by the updated version before jumping into matches.
What the Marvel Tōkon PC patch fixes
Lower CPU usage
- Resolved an issue that caused unusually high CPU usage during the startup process.
- Fixed extra system load created by periodic audio processing during matches.
Fewer sudden performance drops
The game was repeatedly checking for available audio inputs while running. Those unnecessary checks could trigger sudden frame and overall performance drops, and the patch removes that behaviour.
Resolution-related frame-rate problems
A separate issue causing the frame rate to fall when certain resolutions were selected has also been addressed.
Battle settings now persist
Restarting the game with particular customisation items or colours enabled could previously reset settings to their defaults. That problem has been fixed.
Online lobby controls
Changing attack-button displays to action icons could make some buttons unresponsive during open-lobby minigames. The update corrects this issue.
Shader warm-up and graphics detection
After updating, the PC version prompts players to warm up its shaders. Completing that process should help provide a smoother session. Arc System Works has also improved automatic specification detection so the game can select a graphics profile better suited to each system.
A better start for Steam players
Community discussion has specifically mentioned micro-stutters, 58fps performance and low GPU utilisation improving after the update. One player who asked whether micro-stutters had been fixed received confirmation that those issues had been resolved.
“Maybe PS5 players will play with us now.”
The quick turnaround is welcome for a competitive fighter, where unstable performance can affect both local practice and online matches. It also gives PC owners a stronger reason to revisit Tōkon before deciding whether the Steam version is suitable for their setup.
