PC players trying to improve Marvel Tōkon performance are experimenting with an unlikely workaround: open the Epic Games Store and leave it running before launching the fighting game.
The suggestion sounds counterintuitive, since a separate game launcher should not obviously improve frame rates or reduce system load. Nevertheless, several players on Reddit and X say the step has resolved some, or possibly all, of their performance problems.
Does leaving the Epic Games Store open help?
There is no agreement among players. Some reports describe better performance after opening the launcher first, while others say it changed nothing. That leaves open the possibility that perceived improvements are inconsistent, temporary or unrelated to the launcher.
One player posted that the workaround was effective, adding to the discussion that began on August 8, 2026. The reports remain anecdotal, however, and do not establish why the process might work.
Testing the workaround
A test of the method produced a small improvement rather than a dramatic transformation. Frame rates appeared to rise slightly, while CPU usage on the test PC also seemed lower.
That result is far from conclusive. Repeatedly restarting the game—around a dozen times during testing—could have affected the outcome, along with any number of other background or system variables. There is not enough evidence to identify the Epic Games Store as the cause.

Even if the launcher trick helps some systems, it is an unconfirmed workaround rather than a proper fix. The fact that players are testing unusual launch routines to gain modest improvements highlights the frustration surrounding the PC version.
Performance concerns were already raised during the beta test, yet players continue to report problems after release. Until those issues receive a reliable technical solution, opening another storefront before starting Marvel Tōkon remains an odd experiment—not a dependable recommendation.
