Marvel Snap is finally adding the long-requested Draft mode, giving players a new way to build decks and compete. The limited-time event launches on 24 August for Android, iOS and Windows PC.
How Marvel Snap Draft mode works
Draft changes the usual structure of the Marvel-themed collectible card game. Each run begins with a starter set of three cards designed around a particular deck style, such as destroy, ramp, move or ongoing.
Players then select seven additional cards. Some of these cards have altered Cost or Power values for Draft, while others include augments that provide extra abilities. A successful run requires five round wins, with players adding two more cards and further augments to their deck as the run progresses.

Why Draft took so long to develop
Second Dinner developer Sam Stoddard said the mode’s extended development was largely the result of adapting Draft to Marvel Snap’s distinctive card-game structure. The game has relatively few cards, very small decks and strong card synergies. Together, those elements reduce variance and make a traditional drafting system difficult to balance.

Draft is launching as a limited-time game mode because Second Dinner still has important questions to answer. The team wants to test it with a much larger audience before deciding how it should evolve.
That limited-time approach is intended to give the developer room to stress-test the format and review player feedback. Stoddard said the team enjoys the mode but recognises that it still contains plenty of unknowns.
When will Draft return?
Draft will be available across the Android, iOS and Windows PC versions of Marvel Snap from 24 August. Second Dinner has not confirmed a regular schedule for its return after the first event ends.
Stoddard said the developer will use the data from the initial run to decide when and how Draft comes back. However, players should not expect a lengthy absence, as the team already has more ideas it wants to explore with the mode.
Marvel Snap launched in 2022 and continues to receive a new card every week. Despite several controversies over the years, it retains an active and dedicated player base. Draft is one of the game’s most substantial updates since launch, introducing a different kind of deck-building challenge without immediately making the format permanent.
