Marvel Rivals ranked play is facing a fresh cheating problem: players have found a way to force a match to end while avoiding the usual loss penalty. For Australian players climbing the competitive ladder, it may be wise to avoid ranked games until NetEase addresses the issue.
The exploit reportedly abuses the game’s cheat-detection response. A player changes configuration files during a match, causing the game to interpret the alteration as cheating and terminate the contest. “People are intentionally abusing the cheating detection system to cancel games with no consequence when they are losing,” LytePK posted on X. They said the problem had occurred five times during a single stream.
How the match-ending exploit works
Reports describe the player briefly leaving the game, modifying the configuration files, and returning after moving the changed files into a new folder. The resulting detection appears to end the match rather than punish the person who triggered it.
That makes the method particularly damaging in ranked play. Instead of accepting a defeat and losing ranking progress, a cheater can apparently manufacture a cancelled game. The source material does not indicate that users exploiting this method are currently receiving bans.
Why configuration files are already controversial
