Marvel is revisiting one of its most destructive multiverse stories before Avengers: Doomsday reaches cinemas in December. The film will be followed by Secret Wars next year, with both projects drawing heavily from the 2015 Secret Wars comic event.
The new five-issue Incursions project will return to the Time Runs Out storyline, which led directly into that event. In the comics, incursions occur when two universes collide, threatening catastrophic destruction across the multiverse. The original storyline ultimately built towards a confrontation involving Marvel’s Primary Universe and the Ultimate Universe.

X-Men: Incursions begins the series
The first release is X-Men: Incursions #1, due on 18 November—approximately one month before Avengers: Doomsday. Alex Paknadel is writing the issue, with Jim Towe providing the artwork.
Its premise brings together two prominent alternate X-Men realities: the mutant-dominated House of M universe and the bleak Days of Future Past timeline. Kate Pryde must decide which reality can survive as the two worlds move towards collision.
When the House of M universe meets the world of Days of Future Past, Kate Pryde has eight hours to determine whether one universe survives—or both are destroyed.
The issue will also be supported by variant covers. Esad Ribić, known for his work on Secret Wars, has created one cover, while Bryan Hitch—artist of Ultimates—has produced a promotional design for the wider Incursions series.
More Marvel universes are on the way
The schedule expands in December with Spider-Man: Incursions #1 and Fantastic Four: Incursions #1. January will then bring X-Men ’92: Incursions #1 and Avengers: Incursions #1.
Marvel says the one-shots will explore classic comic-book periods, alternate timelines and familiar adaptations. One Bryan Hitch variant even features Rogue as she appeared in the animated series X-Men: Evolution, suggesting the project is not limiting itself to a single version of Marvel history.
The publisher’s announced details position the collection as a useful comic-book primer for the multiverse conflict that may shape Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars.
