Maneater 2 has surfaced as one of the most unexpected announcements from Sony’s latest State of Play. The sequel returns to the series’ unusual blend of open-world exploration, action-RPG progression and gleefully excessive shark violence.
A new shark, a very dangerous water park
The game takes place during an invite-only soft opening for Neptune’s Kingdom, an extravagant water park packed with unsuspecting swimmers. Its wealthy owners have spent heavily on genetic experiments involving marine life, creating monstrous creatures beneath the park’s attractions.
Players take control of a different shark from the one featured in the first game. As the new predator moves through Neptune’s Kingdom and explores deeper waters, it will encounter strange experimental wildlife and plenty of opportunities to feed.

Maneater 2 is planned for release in 2027. Its appearance during Sony’s presentation indicates that PlayStation 5 is expected to be among its platforms, although the available announcement did not provide a complete platform list.
