Aspyr has brought The Lord of the Rings: War in the North back to sale with a new Legacy Edition, marking the company’s first release from the Tolkien franchise and hinting at more classic titles ahead.
The surprise re-release arrives after a difficult period for Aspyr, whose recent work has included criticism over the quality of its Deus Ex remaster, Lara Croft outfit DLC and alleged use of AI. That makes this otherwise welcome announcement worth approaching with some caution.

Originally released in 2011, War in the North is a co-operative action RPG. The new edition is not a full remaster: it is an updated version of the existing game with improved graphics options and several practical enhancements for modern players.
