Lollipop Chainsaw is returning with a new sequel, but fans still have more questions than answers. The zombie-action series retains a cult following despite the mixed response to its 2024 remaster, and Juliet Starling is set to make her first new-game appearance in more than a decade.
The project will receive its full unveiling at Tokyo Game Show 2026, where visitors will also get the first opportunity to play a demo. However, the major creative figures behind the original game have not been announced as part of the sequel’s team.
The news follows a surprise announcement in July 2025 that prompted plenty of sceptical fan discussion. Dragami Games also confirmed an anime adaptation at the time, promising to preserve the “spirit of the original work” while avoiding what it described as “excessive creative restrictions in the name of DEI”.
After more than a year without further information, a few fresh details were finally shared today. Sega will distribute the game in Japan and Southeast Asia, and the sequel will appear at Sega’s booth during the show. Cosplayer PeachyMilky is also scheduled to attend as Juliet Starling.

A stage presentation scheduled for Friday and Saturday should provide additional information. The session will feature the game’s director, Mr Nasu, alongside Hajime Tabata, the former COO of Luminous Productions and current CEO of JP Universe. Tabata is also leading development of OwnWorld, an AI-driven RPG game engine.

Who is working on the sequel?
Dragami Games handled the recent remaster, but the publicly named team for the sequel currently consists only of its director. Grasshopper, the original developer, is not listed among the confirmed participants, nor are the game’s original directors, Suda51 and Tomo Ikeda.
Dragami Games has said that some developers who worked on the first game will contribute to the new project, although their identities have not been revealed. Until the stage presentation or a later announcement clarifies the team, the sequel’s creative direction remains uncertain.
Juliet’s new look
The promotional artwork offers one of the few other clues. It shows Juliet wearing a more conservative-looking letterman jacket while zombie hands reach towards her. The Tokyo Game Show demo, stage events and planned arcade and gaming videos may reveal how this new chapter builds on the series’ exaggerated zombie-action formula.
