Location Watch October 2025: New Arcades Around the World

October’s Location Watch rounds up newly opened arcades, pinball rooms and family entertainment venues reported during 2025. Coverage depends on information shared by operators, readers and industry publications including RePlay Magazine and InterGame Online.

The third quarter was comparatively quiet, which explains the gap since the previous update. This edition spans North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania, with a mixture of dedicated retro venues, Japanese game centres, pinball lounges and larger family entertainment centres.

North America

Push Start Play — Lewisville, Texas

Push Start Play describes itself as Texas’s largest arcade. Its $12 flat admission includes a pre-loaded game card, with more than 300 of approximately 450 games set to free play. The collection combines classic and current video games with pinball and unusual prototypes.

Standout machines include the rare Beavis & Butt-Head prototype, Atari Games’ Freeze prototype and an Asteroids Recharged Arcade. The venue’s website, photo album and local news coverage provide further details.

Timeline Arcade No. 3 — Red Lion, Pennsylvania

Timeline Arcade’s third venue is a smaller operation than its earlier locations, which recreate the feel of an old Time Out Tunnel inside Franklin Street Social. The Red Lion site is presented as a compact “little hideaway”, but still fits several arcade games. Visit the venue’s Facebook page or website.

Super Rad Retro Lounge — Raleigh, North Carolina

Raleigh’s Super Rad Retro Lounge is separate from the Super Rad Arcade Bar in Lynchburg, Virginia. The new venue concentrates on classic gaming, with Nintendo cabinets, Midway machines and a row of pinball tables. More information is available on Facebook and in industry coverage.

Nightwave Arcade — Calgary, Alberta

Formerly known as VR Core, Nightwave has broadened its offer beyond virtual reality by adding video arcade and pinball machines while retaining VR attractions. The change reflects the challenge of operating with a small number of VR stations, an issue shared by PC gaming LAN venues. See Nightwave’s website for the current mix.

Neon Moon Pinball Lounge — Johnson City, Tennessee

Neon Moon Pinball Lounge has opened in Johnson City with a selection of machines from Stern, Jersey Jack and other manufacturers. At the time of the October report, the venue had only just begun trading. Opening information is listed by Visit Johnson City.

Arcade 51 — Daytona Beach, Florida

Arcade 51 held a soft opening a few weeks before its full launch, and is now operating as a bar arcade. Its line-up includes a game connected to Daytona’s famous speedway through its 1998 sequel, alongside 1990s favourites and less common Sega titles such as Star Wars Racer Arcade and Sega Strike Fighter.

Akiba House — Manhattan, New York

Akiba House’s flagship is aimed at anime and Japanese-culture fans, but also includes a small Japanese arcade area. Crane games lead into rhythm attractions including two WACCA units and Chunithm. The venue remains a modest arcade addition, but gives visitors another place to experience Japanese-style machines.

Family entertainment centre updates

• Dave & Buster’s new CEO discusses the company’s problems, with further analysis from the White Hutchinson Group.
• Main Event opens in Greensboro, North Carolina, showing how performance varies between entertainment business models.
• Betson promoted Arcade Time’s new facility in Orlando, which has more than 300 games, and furnished the game room at Montana’s Big Horn Resort.
• AVS installed a new arcade at Smash Park in Westville, Ohio, while F1 Arcade added a Las Vegas venue.
• New crane-focused locations opened in Cypress, Houston and Hawaii.
• Pinstripes entered bankruptcy and closed 10 locations.

Europe

Sega Prize Zone — Basingstoke, England

Sega Amusements and Superbowl UK have added another bowling and arcade venue in Basingstoke, Kent. The Sega Prize Zone includes redemption and prize games, House of the Dead: Scarlet Dawn, Storm Racer G and interactive darts stations.

King Size Game Center — Gérardmer, France

King Size Game Center opened in Gérardmer and introduced a Sacoa cashless card system shortly afterwards. Its selection is heavily weighted towards games from China, with photographs also showing motion cabinets running a Ferrari-themed racing game. The reported line-up is not exclusively made up of unlicensed machines.

European FEC developments

• Hollywood Bowl Norwich received a £400,000 refurbishment that expanded its arcade.
• Hollywood Bowl Bracknell closed after 35 years.
• Gutterball opened a new site in Ealing Broadway, London.
• Blackpool’s North Pier was put up for sale and attracted significant interest.
• Gamestate’s Weltmeijer Group acquired The Game Box.
• Bandai Namco expanded LEVELS across a fifth floor in Prague.
• French multi-attraction chain 1055 opened its seventh location.

Asia, the Middle East and Oceania

Tsuchiura Video Game E201 — Ibaraki, Japan

This venue represents both a relocation and a reopening. Nakano TRF, a well-known fighting-game centre, closed earlier in 2025, but its owners had indicated that they would keep their cabinets rather than sell them. Those machines now operate at Tsuchiura Video Game E201, located in a mall opposite Tsuchiura station.

A Chun-Li mural identifies the site. The venue continues Nakano TRF’s focus on fighting games, while adding some new attractions, including pinball machines that are unusual for Japan and other less typical selections.

Timezone — Borivali, India and Bacolod, Philippines

Timezone continues to expand, with new venues in Borivali’s recently opened Sky City Mall and Bacolod. The Indian location includes Apex Rebels, Alpha Ops VR Strike, Asphalt Moto Blitz and 9 Legends Arcade.

The Bacolod site features Asia-exclusive motion versions of Cruis’n Blast and NFS Heat Takedown. Timezone has also begun introducing the large King of Fighters cabinets shown at recent Chinese trade shows into its Singapore locations.

Regional openings and closures

• Adores’ Ikebukuro Sunshine Street venue in Tokyo closed after 40 years; its later line-up was primarily cranes, medal games and photo booths.
• GiGO opened at Vita Mall Seiseki and added another location at SELVA Mall in Izumichuo, Sendai.
• Dave & Buster’s opened its first venue in the Philippines.
• Timezone refurbished its Vista Mall Taguig venue in the Philippines.
• Genda opened region-specific Chinese subsidiaries.

Coming soon

• Score Entertainment, a large family entertainment centre, is planned for Texas in summer 2026.
• Launch Entertainment is also planned for Texas in 2026, with trampolines, an arcade and duckpin bowling.
• Rocko’s Modern Taproom is planned as a family bar arcade for San Diego next year.
• Urban Fun is preparing its second Kingston-upon-Thames location.
• Boneyard Arcade is expected to reopen at a new site in Exeter.
• Silk Hat has teased the reopening of GiGO Building 1 in Akihabara.
