Michel Koch, co-creator and director of the 2015 Life Is Strange game, has offered strong support for Amazon’s upcoming television adaptation after visiting the set.
Production has now wrapped, and Koch described his time with the series as one of the most surreal weeks of his life. He visited alongside fellow original creators Jean-Luc Cano and Luc Baghadoust, praising the cast and crew and saying he could not be prouder of what they had made.
“This month, I experienced one of the most surreal weeks of my life,” Koch wrote in an Instagram post.
Max and Chloe get a live-action look
Koch also highlighted Tatum Grace Hopkins and Maisy Stella, who play Max and Chloe. A photograph shared from the visit shows the pair with Koch and provides one of the clearest glimpses yet at their live-action versions of the characters.
The image appears to have been taken inside the production’s recreation of the Two Whales Diner, a recognisable location from the game. For fans following the adaptation, the setting offers an early indication of how the series is translating familiar places to television.
Is Don’t Nod involved?
Koch’s visit is notable because Don’t Nod, the studio behind the original game and Life Is Strange 2, does not own the franchise. After the second game, development responsibility moved to Deck Nine while Don’t Nod pursued its own projects.
Square Enix is producing the television series, while Don’t Nod has no official involvement. Even so, inviting Koch, Cano and Baghadoust to the set gives the original creators a connection to the new production and signals an effort to respect the game’s characters and their importance to players.
