Marvel’s next X-Men film may have found its Scott Summers. A report says Heartstopper star Kit Connor is being lined up to play Cyclops in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joining Samara Weaving, who is reportedly attached as Emma Frost.
The project is directed by Jake Schreier, but Marvel Studios has not officially confirmed any casting. The reported additions suggest the film’s mutant roster is beginning to take shape.
Kit Connor’s path to Cyclops
At 22, Connor already has a varied screen career. He is best known for playing Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper series and the film Heartstopper Forever. His other credits include portraying a young Elton John in Rocketman and appearing in A24’s Warfare.
Connor is also attached to the upcoming Elden Ring film adaptation, where he will appear alongside Cailee Spaeny. Spaeny has separately been linked with the possible role of Rogue in Marvel’s X-Men project, although that casting has not been confirmed.
Marvel has not confirmed the mutant cast
Marvel Studios has yet to make an official casting announcement for its X-Men movie. Disney is scheduled to hold a D23 fan event next week, which could provide an opportunity for more information. Any announcement remains speculative until the studio confirms it.
The wider MCU already includes one confirmed mutant: Kamala Khan was revealed as a mutant at the end of Ms. Marvel, and the comics later continued that storyline. Sadie Sink’s previously undisclosed role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day has also been revealed as Jean Grey, one of the original X-Men.

James Marsden is also returning as Cyclops
Connor would not be the only actor playing Cyclops in Marvel’s upcoming plans. James Marsden is set to portray the character in a comics-accurate costume in Avengers: Doomsday.
Marsden will be joined by returning performers from the earlier Fox X-Men films, including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto and Rebecca Romijn as Mystique.
Inde Navarrette, who stars in Obsession, has met with Schreier and said she would like to play Mystique, including wearing the character’s blue body paint. However, she has not been cast in an MCU role. Her comments about Mystique add another possibility to the film’s developing casting discussion.
The report about Connor’s potential casting was published by Deadline. Until Marvel makes its announcement, Connor’s involvement and the rest of the reported line-up should be treated as unconfirmed.
