Kingdom Hearts 4 is coming in late 2027
Disney and Square Enix used D23 to share substantial new details about Kingdom Hearts 4, including its release window, platforms and first look at a new Pixar-inspired setting.
The game is scheduled to launch in late 2027. It is planned for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, and Xbox Series X.
A new Coco adventure for Sora
The 90-second showcase trailer introduces a world based on Pixar’s Coco. Miguel and Hector appear with designs closely matching their film appearances, while Sora wears Día de Muertos face paint.
During the festival, Miguel performs on stage as Sora battles Heartless Shadows with his keyblade. The trailer also shows the three characters fighting together.
Sora’s themed weapon combines visual elements associated with Coco, including guitars, sugar skulls, bones and marigolds. It is a colourful addition to the series’ collection of world-specific keyblades.
Quadratum and familiar Disney characters return
The trailer moves beyond the Pixar setting to revisit Quadratum, the modern city that serves as Sora’s real-world environment. A huge Heartless force invades the city, creating another major threat for Sora and his allies.
Other glimpses include Mickey Mouse delivering a short monologue, Goofy speaking with Hades, and ghostly versions of Goofy and Donald Duck.
