Killzone has been dormant for 13 years, but reports suggest Sony may be preparing a new project based on its science-fiction first-person shooter series. Once a major part of PlayStation’s first-party portfolio, the franchise faded as Guerrilla Games devoted more attention to open-world projects.
A report points to Guerrilla working with an external studio on the potential revival. The project is said to be in the very early stages, and could become a remaster or remake of an existing entry. The 2004 original Killzone appears to be the leading candidate, although the project could reportedly develop into a broader reboot instead. The franchise’s long absence is also documented as being dormant for 13 years.
People Can Fly connection remains unconfirmed
PlayStation signed a co-development agreement with People Can Fly in March 2025. The studio behind Outriders is working on a project codenamed Delta, which is reportedly based on an existing PlayStation intellectual property.

Guerrilla is currently focused on Horizon Hunter’s Gathering, a live-service spin-off reportedly rebooted after a recent playtest produced poor results.
