Magic: The Gathering card Kasmina, Enigma Sage has jumped by more than 1,000% on the secondary market after previews for Reality Fracture revealed a combo that can potentially end games as early as turn three.
The planeswalker debuted in 2021’s Strixhaven: School of Mages and spent years in bulk-mythic territory. As recently as early September, copies were available for roughly US$1. Prices for regular and borderless versions have since moved into double figures. MTG Stocks market data records gains well above 1,000% over the past month and more than 1,200% during the past week.
It is another sharp price reaction driven by new-card speculation. Cards from the Secret Lair Zeta Set also attracted attention after becoming legal in Pauper.
How Jace’s Machinations boosts Kasmina
The interaction centres on Jace’s Machinations, a three-mana blue instant from Reality Fracture. Its Empower Jace mechanic can create a Jace planeswalker token when required, place eight loyalty counters on it and let Jace planeswalkers activate loyalty abilities at instant speed for the rest of the turn.
Kasmina, Enigma Sage supplies the crucial extra ability. Her static effect gives each other planeswalker you control her loyalty abilities, including her -8 ultimate.
That means the freshly created Jace token, already at eight loyalty, can immediately use Kasmina’s ultimate. The ability searches the library for an instant or sorcery sharing a colour with the blue token and casts that spell without paying its mana cost. Jace’s Machinations also makes the play happen at instant speed.
Possible finishers for the combo
Players have identified Enter the Infinite as one of the most dramatic payoffs. Casting the 12-mana sorcery for free draws the entire library, allowing Thassa’s Oracle to close out the game.
Another possibility is the newly revealed Fblthp, Impossibly Lost. This line requires cards to be put back into the library before the legendary Homunculus can connect in combat. Emergent Ultimatum is also an established game-ending spell that Kasmina’s ultimate can find and cast for free.
With a turn-one mana-producing creature, the Kasmina and Jace’s Machinations engine can theoretically be assembled by turn three in Pioneer. That speed does not yet prove the interaction belongs in a competitive deck.
Why the price rise may not last
Two-card combinations often look unbeatable during preview season, only to struggle against removal, counterspells, poor draws and the demands of tournament play. Kasmina was seeing little competitive use before this interaction emerged, so the current price movement appears to be driven largely by speculation rather than established demand.
Even with that caution, the spike is significant. A roughly US$1 planeswalker that had spent years overlooked has become one of the fastest-moving Magic cards almost overnight.
