Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has been quiet since its announcement at The Game Awards in 2024, but Naughty Dog’s sci-fi adventure has now revealed a notable cast addition.
Robin Atkin Downes joins the cast
Actor Robin Atkin Downes announced his involvement on 20 August, writing that he had kept the project secret for some time. His post also featured a playful motion-capture video, with Downes wearing a performance-capture suit while the Baha Men’s “Who Let the Dogs Out” played.
Downes has a long history with Naughty Dog. His previous roles for the studio include:
- Atoq Navarro in Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
- Tenzin in Uncharted 2
- Talbot in Uncharted 3
- Vincent Perez in Uncharted: Golden Abyss for PlayStation Vita
- Robert in The Last of Us
- Hector Alcazar in Uncharted 4
Many of those characters are villains, so Downes’ casting has prompted speculation about whether he could again be playing an antagonist. Naughty Dog has not confirmed his character or disclosed further details about the role.

What we know about Intergalactic
Downes joins Tati Gabrielle, who plays Jordan, the game’s protagonist. The announced cast also includes Kumail Nanjiani, known for The Big Sick and Eternals; Tony Dalton from Hawkeye; Ashley Scott from The Last of Us; and Troy Baker, whose credits include The Last of Us and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Director Neil Druckmann has said the story follows Jordan, a bounty hunter who crash-lands on a planet shaped by a powerful sci-fi religion. Gameplay is also expected to differ from Naughty Dog’s usual gun-focused approach. Early information points towards a hack-and-slash adventure with inspiration from Elden Ring.
A long-awaited update
The project was first shown publicly nearly two years before this casting news, and Naughty Dog had shared very little about it in the intervening months. Downes’ announcement provides one of the clearest signs yet that development is moving forward, while the game’s story, release timing and exact combat systems remain undisclosed.
