Prototype notice: Hyper Cross has only been observed in location testing. Its final production form may change, and the game may not receive a full release, so firm conclusions should wait.
With Bowl Expo scheduled for Orlando the following week, attention is turning to the new arcade games expected at the event. However, IGS and Baohui’s Hyper Cross does not appear in Sega’s announced Bowl Expo line-up, at least according to Sega’s press release.
The game was first reported on test in the United Kingdom in February, including a run at Airport Bowl. New photographs supplied by Kevin Williams now show Hyper Cross at the Funbox arcade inside Gravity Max Wandsworth in London.
The latest images do reveal one notable feature: a global ranking system accessed through QR codes. Beyond that addition, the test cabinet appears broadly similar to the earlier UK appearance.
Baohui previously published a trailer for the game ahead of its release in some Asian territories. The video provides another look at the title while its international arcade rollout remains uncertain.
There is now also confirmation that Hyper Cross has reached a US location test. At the time of the report, players could find it at Dave & Busters in Addison, Illinois. Anyone who encounters the machine is encouraged to share the sighting, although another highly anticipated game from a different company was also being tested at the venue.
Could Hyper Cross reach a wider release?
A Bowl Expo appearance seems unlikely. Sega was still promoting two racers, Drone Racing Genesis and Storm Rider 2, while Jet Blaster and ATV Slam brought the company’s active racing offering to four titles.
If the location tests perform well, Hyper Cross could potentially become more visible around IAAPA.
